Dan Graham, CEO

Dan Graham oversees the growth strategy of BuildASign.com and plays a key role in the company’s philanthropic efforts and talent acquisition. Dan co-founded BuildASign.com in March 2005 and has since bootstrapped the company to great success. Dan is a winner of the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2013 Central Texas award. He is also a recipient of the Austin Business Journal's 2012 Best CEO Award, and was named 2012 Austinite of the Year and the Business and Entrepreneurship category winner by Austin Under 40, recognizing his success as a business owner as well as his commitment to philanthropic work. As a native Austinite, Dan personally gives back to the Austin community through participation on the Board of Directors for numerous philanthropic organizations in Austin including United Way for Greater Austin, Caritas of Austin, Citizen Generation and the Austin Chamber of Commerce among several others. He also acts as a mentor to aspiring young entrepreneurs, working with Capital Factory, Incubation Station and The University of Texas at Austin’s 1 Semester Startup. Dan earned undergraduate degrees in computer science and philosophy from The University of Texas at Austin and a J.D. from The University of Texas at Austin School of Law.

J.R. Kraft, President

J.R. Kraft oversees BuildASign.com’s strategic initiatives and manages acquisitions, sourcing and partnerships. Prior to BuildASign.com, J.R. managed the National Field Marketing Program for BDS Marketing, where he was in charge of retail relationships, signage and sales compliance. J.R. served as Chairman at the FESPA Americas 2011 Global Business Forum and acts as the Chairman for the FESPA U.S. Steering Committee. He is also a member of the FESPA Hall of Fame. J.R. earned his bachelor’s degree in political science with a minor in international relations from the University of San Diego.

Kit Mellem, Chief Financial Officer

Kit Mellem oversees BuildASign.com’s financial and legal operations, policies and reporting. Kit joined BuildASign.com in 2009 and has helped the company continue to grow rapidly and increase profitability. Prior to joining BuildASign.com, Kit was an attorney with Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP in New York, where his practice focused on the taxation of corporate transactions. He earned bachelor’s degrees in accounting and philosophy from The University of Kansas and a J.D. from Columbia Law School. Kit also serves on the Board of Directors for GENaustin and the Austin Chapter of Financial Executives International (FEI).

Jerry Sun, Chief Information Officer/Chief Marketing Officer

Jerry Sun oversees software development and marketing operations for all BuildASign.com brand sites. In his six years with the company, Jerry has helped grow the team from 10 to over 200 employees and currently oversees more than 50 developers, product managers, marketing analysts and designers. Prior to joining BuildASign.com, Jerry held technology consulting roles for leading technology companies including Salesforce.com and Hitachi. He earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science from The University of Texas at Austin and a master’s degree in computer science from the University of Colorado at Boulder.

Nick Swerdfeger, Chief Operations Officer

Nick Swerdfeger oversees BuildASign.com’s production, supply chain and customer service operations. Nick joined BuildASign.com in 2007, and has been responsible for scaling the company's operational infrastructure and capabilities to effectively meet BuildASign.com’s rapid growth. Before joining BuildASign.com, Nick served as an Optimization Engineer for BP at their Carson, CA refinery. He earned bachelor’s degrees in chemical engineering and economics from Colorado School of Mines.

Chelsea Woodhead, Director of Culture and Communications

Chelsea Woodhead oversees communications, philanthropy, staff engagement and corporate culture at BuildASign.com. She joined BuildASign.com in 2010 and helped launch the company’s formal Giving Program, which has provided more than $600,000 worth of in-kind donations to more than 750 nonprofit organizations to date. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for Austin Pro Bono and is a member of the Junior League of Austin. She earned her bachelor’s degrees in public relations, political science and women’s studies from Gonzaga University.

Olivia Mayberry, Director of Human Resources

Olivia Mayberry is responsible for determining and overseeing the company’s HR, benefits and recruitment strategies. Prior to joining BuildASign.com, Olivia served as the Human Resources Manager for Dave & Busters, Inc., where she oversaw employee and guest relations for all 57 locations and more than 8000 employees. Olivia is an active member of Austin Human Resource Management Association and Young Women’s Alliance. She earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration from Rhodes College and received her Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification from the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) in 2005.
